Everything you need to know about generating secure passwords.
Very secure. We use the Web Crypto API (crypto.getRandomValues()) which provides cryptographically secure random numbers. With a 20-character password using all character types, you get approximately 130 bits of entropy - virtually impossible to crack.
No. All password generation happens entirely in your browser. Your passwords are never sent to any server, never stored, and never logged. Close the tab and they're gone forever (unless you've copied them).
Yes! Install it as a Progressive Web App (PWA) from your browser, and you can generate passwords even without an internet connection.
For maximum security, we recommend at least 16 characters with all character types enabled. For most online accounts, 12-16 characters is sufficient. For master passwords or encryption keys, consider 20+ characters.
A passphrase is a password made of random words (like 'correct-horse-battery-staple'). They're easier to remember but still very secure. Our passphrase mode uses the EFF wordlist with ~12.9 bits of entropy per word.
Entropy measures password randomness in bits. Higher entropy = more secure. A 128-bit password would take billions of years to crack even with the world's most powerful computers.
Characters like 0/O and l/1/I can be confusing when reading or typing passwords. Excluding them makes passwords easier to use without significantly reducing security.
Yes! Simply click the regenerate button or press G to create a new password. Each generation is independent and cryptographically secure.
